Prayers at Tashi Lhunpo Monastery
In the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, prayers are performed for the benefit of all sentient beings and for universal harmony. Prayers are also offered for the removal of obstacles, for success in one’s activities, and to attain a better life after rebirth.
At Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, we can perform special prayers for you and your loved ones. We aim to support organisations and individuals during difficult times by offering prayers as requested.
You are warmly invited to sponsor prayers in the monastery. In doing so, you benefit not only yourself but also support the monks, as all offerings received through prayers help sustain the members of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery.

The Purpose of Prayers at the Monastery
Performing prayers and offerings with sincere motivation helps to remove difficulties, prevent unfavourable circumstances, and support success in one’s undertakings. The underlying objective of prayers performed in the monastery is the betterment of all sentient beings, the avoidance of natural calamities in this universe, and for the teachings of the Buddha to remain for as long as possible.

Prayer Requests
Requesting Prayers at the Monastery
A selection of the prayers which can be offered for you, for your relatives and friends and the approximate cost of the necessary offerings are set out in the table below.
If you wish to request a prayer that is not listed in this table, please contact us for more information.
In addition it is customary to make an offering to each of the monks in the monastery who will be offering the prayers on your behalf. The amount can be entirely up to you – anything from INR 10/- to INR 500/- for each monk. There are 400 monks in the monastery who would receive this offering.
